A role before bar admission needs clear expectations on both sides. Use these questions to understand the position before making a commitment.

01

Clarify the role in writing

Ask the organization how the position is classified, which qualifications it requires, and what work is expected. Confirm whether the role is designed for someone awaiting results or requires admission before the start date.

02

Ask how supervision works

Discuss who will supervise you, how assignments are reviewed, and where to take questions. Ask the organization to identify the current official rules relevant to the work. Program rules and permitted activities must be verified with the appropriate authority.

03

Make space for the transition

Discuss compensation, benefits, start and end dates, bar-study time, and what happens when results arrive. Ask whether the position can continue after admission and which conditions would apply.
